This is an installment of a daily project I’m launching for the month of October. I’ll create work revolving around the theme of identity and regrowth and I’ll update my blog with behind the scenes content, process, and finished artwork. Click through to read more. Catch up on the ongoing narrative here.
It’s been one week since starting this project! So far, I’m loving it. And I’m also wishing there were more hours in the day and that I had eight different sets of hands that could perform all the tasks I need to do all at once. But I’m sure every artist can relate.
Tonight is for curling up by the fire with a nice glass of wine and for reading a book. Tomorrow I launch my horror portrait series. But until then, there’s a lull in time and it feels appropriate to fill it with rest.
The moon is one of my favorite tarot cards just for how rich the symbolism is. To sum it up in a few words, it speaks of the past resurfacing. You can bury your memories unintentionally or try to forget them, but without facing them head on, they will continue to come up again and again. It can symbolizes intuition and dreams and can also stand for your shadow self, something I’ve been interested in since donning Black Swan makeup for a photo shoot.
“Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.”
– Carl Jung
