This is an installment of a daily project I’m launching for the month of October. I’ll create work revolving around the theme of identity and regrowth and I’ll update my blog with behind the scenes content, process, and finished artwork. Click through to read more. Catch up on the ongoing narrative here.
Here’s something cute and little for your Saturday afternoon. I’m working on designing Halloween invites for my parents and this will become a design for the back. Dip pens are new to me. Learning the technique is fun and strange – but I’m enjoying working with them just for the process of making art.
There’s a wonderful community of artists on Instagram who tag their work #DoItForTheProcess. The movement was created by Emily Jeffords – an oil painter and teacher whom I greatly admire. I love the idea of doing something for the joy of it, rather than for the results.
I also received my Frankenstein test prints yesterday and I’m in love with how they turned out! The paper is so thick and sturdy and the quality of the ink looks so good. I’m planning on giving away one print to an Instagram follower for Halloween. I’ll let you know how to enter the giveaway sometime next week!
